Brendan Jones' ARP is all about getting Liggett into the High School Esports League (HSEL), and now, it looks like he may have done it. With help from Ms. Minwalla, the Knights now have a club on HSEL.
Since Friday, 2/21/20, there are five official members, with two more at least waiting for the invite to join. Brendan says that right now, he is trying to get players before worrying about filling teams. Currently, Liggett is set to compete in two games: Rocket League and Super Smash Bros.
The Rocket League roster needed a third, and now it looks like the dynamic duo of Nicholas Cardella ('20) and Leo Muller ('22) will be joined by Carsten Higbie ('21), and substitute, Sam Sword ('21). The team has been holding practices at night while gearing up to compete in the Spring Circuit.
Super Smash Bros is a different type of game where you do not ned a team, it's a more 1v1 game. So far the players that are listed on that roster are Brendan Jones ('20) and Kevin Ellis ('20), possibly with more to come. Regardless, Jones and Ellis are both ready to compete.
So far its looking like this will be a success, with many players already excited for competition.
Liggett requires students to participate in two extra curricular activities, and Jones would like competing in the HSEL to count as one. He said he needs to meet with Athletic Director, Alan Parish, but if it does happen there will probably be requirements that need to be met, such as matches played and practice hours.
Getting Liggett into the HSEL has been a goal of Jones' from the start of his ARP journey, and now we're finally ready for the countdown to start, players to jump high in the air, and score some goals.
